This is a Poem written by my father in the early 80's  (Picture down below)

It begins...

The Great Motorcycle Rider in the sky,

One day asked himself, why?

Some motorcycle riders were different than the rest

He could see it in their manner and in their dress.

The Mighty Clan

By Hugh Usher Sr.

The Great Motorcycle Rider in the sky,

One day asked himself, why?

Some motorcycle riders were different than the rest

He could see it in their manner and in their dress.

He said, as he viewed that distinguished band,

“I’ll choose those few for my riding clan.”

“I’ll lead them all over this promised land,

And protect them with my mighty hand.”

For this dedicated touring few,

We will need a machine that’s really new.

I’ll build it shiny with a brilliant sheen

It will be beautiful, but I’ll make it mean!

No stamped parts and nary a melted down can,

Like the other bikes that will have also ran.

Just the best machined parts and metric nuts,

I’ll build us a machine with plenty of Guts!

Wile others sit and fiddle with their oily chains,

Our shaft drive will be cruising all four lanes.

Some will build bikes with its C.G. too tall,

That will make it difficult to avoid a fall.

We will build ours strong and the C.G. down low,

So, on the curves we can lean it over and screw in the go.

A name this Super Bike must have, it’s true,

I’ll make it the best and call it “Bee Em Double U”

I’ll paint mine white and power it well,

So we can out cruise these cheapies to the brink of Hell.

Those bikes from the land of Italy, Britain and the Rising Sun,

We will cruise them to death, one by one.

I will lead my faithful few for ever and ever,

over mountains, deserts, and through whatever.

Mounted astride that great white bike atop Mt. Hood,

He said to his distinguished clan, “This is Good!”

Above his head could be seen, a halo arced

But on all of their helmets was plainly marked.

Letters with a golden hue

B M and W.

This being a true story, I don’t have to lie

Just ask any BMW rider, he will attest and signify.
