Were you at Daytona Bike Week '06? PDF Print E-mail
Tuesday, 28 March 2006

This is a short travelogue about our 3-day trip to Daytona and back. There is some video footage, pictures, a map of the alternate route we rode from Tampa to Daytona. It was impossible for us to go to all events that occurred but we tried to all the things we didn't have time to do during Biketoberfest.

From Tampa to Daytona

The route we rode to Bike week '06, was not the usual I-4 route. We decided we wanted to take a scenic route which started out to Route 54 via Race track road. The road trip went as follows:

  • Forest Lake Blvd to Race Track Rd
  • Race Track Rd to Gunn Hwy (587) North
  • Lutz Lake Farm Rd to Angel Ln
  • Gunn Hwy (587) to (54) East
  • (54) to I-75 North
  • I-75 to 470 East
  • Lake Denham (33)
  • W CR 44 & SR 19 head North
  • Altoona (19) to (42E)
  • 44 East
  • De Land to 15A
  • 92 E to Daytona

The Iron Horse Saloon & The Wall of Death

The Iron Horse Saloon was an attraction in itself. It is laid out similar to a wild west corral. Lined with shops and watering holes serving beer, beverages and food. There is an upstairs deck where you can hang-out and watch the featured band playing on the stage centered below. The saloon is definitely a place to check out in Ormond Beach, FL. Even if you are not a biker, you can check the Saloon's website for events that you can bring the family to.

The Wall of bikeweek-06-033-tnDeath attraction also known as the motordrome, was performed by the California Hell Riders. There were 3 riders that rode at high speeds perpendicular to the audience.

The bikes ridden in the performance were a Harley-Davidson 1957 HD Hummer, 101 Indian Scout, and a go-kart.

You can see some of the video footage of this show by playing the video below. You can also see a couple of other pictures in our gallery.
